From June 24 to 28, 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Sirichai Kunapapdeelert, Director of the Energy Research and Development Institute – Nakornping (ERDI) at Chiang Mai University, participated in the UN Climate Technology Centre and Network (UN-CTCN) program in the Republic of Korea. Organized by the UNFCCC, this program focused on research and development in green and pink hydrogen, which are highly promising energy sources for sustainable development.
During the program, Associate Professor Dr. Sirichai Kunapapdeelert visited and engaged with leading hydrogen energy organizations in South Korea, including the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER), the Hydrogen Industry Overall-life Cycle Product Safety Support Center, and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. The objective was to study and exchange knowledge on developing hydrogen energy from renewable and nuclear sources, as well as safety testing standards for commercial hydrogen use.
ERDI-CMU’s participation in the UN-CTCN program marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between Thailand and South Korea in renewable energy development. This collaboration will be instrumental in driving sustainable development and supporting Chiang Mai University’s goal of carbon neutrality.
